The Dedication and Inspiration...
This book is dedicated to my oldest son, Mark, who worked as Promotion Art Director for Good Housekeeping Magazine before he passed on. He always wanted me to pursue my dream and encouraged me to compile these recipes, and my story, into a cookbook that could be shared. This is for you, Mark.
In 1988, Mark gave me a Good Housekeeping Cookbook for Christmas, and this is what he wrote:

$1.00 from the sale of this book will be donated to an organization
supplying food to people with AIDS and their families.
